Sir Edward Chambers, or as he is known by his friends, Ned is in London to procure a house while he and his daughter are there for her coming out for the season. Ned meets his old friend Viscount Ludovic DeVere. DeVere is a confirmed bachelor and a rake and wants to help his friend Ned whether he wants his help or not. Feeling guilty about his wife's death, Ned lives a quiet, celibate life.

Phoebe Scott is a struggling actress who gets a small part as Kitty Willis at the Covent Garden. When the theater closes for renovations, Phoebe is out of work and needs a protector, she also nurses a broken heart and a secret.

Devil takes Ned to party where they meet the mysterious Kitty Willis. Ned is surprised to find himself drawn to the masked lady. Phoebe likes Ned, he seems honorable and she decides he'll make a good protector. But Ned isn't interested in a mistress and tells Kitty that, she immediately asks to be introduced to Mr. DeVere.
The thought of DeVere and Kitty together has Ned seeing red. One thing leads to another and Ned and Kitty have a night of amazing sex. When Ned wakes up, he finds out they are in the King's bed!

I loved A Wild Night's Bride, The Devil DeVere series book one by Victoria Vane. All the characters were well written with a lot of emotion and depth. I liked that Ms. Vane had a little section of facts at the back of the book. I couldn't help but to fall in love with Ned. He was such an honorable man, but he had a lot of guilt for his wife's death. I could almost feel his pain. Ned loved his daughter and wanted to do right by her by providing her with her season in London. I think that was super sweet of him. Phoebe was a very likable character as well. She was smart, and worked at leaning her lines and her craft. Phoebe and Ned made a great couple. There was a lot of chemistry between them and they belonged together. What surprised me was Devil DeVere. I liked him a lot, he was witty and also concerned about Ned's welfare. The plot was enjoyable, and moved along nicely with a few surprises along the way. Ms. Vane has a great imagination when writing her scenes and I had to chuckle at some of the things she put her characters through. I'm looking forward to reading book two in The Devil DeVere series.
